Mirror Shelf DIY

Let me start by saying a few things. First off I can't take full credit for this DIY. I saw it on The Sweetest Thing blog a while back and loved it so much I just had to make one of my own. Second, I did this on Valentine's Day after a couple glasses of wine. Therefore, I will tell you my mistakes, and how not to repeat what I did. Finally yet importantly, I am very impressed with myself for doing this on my own especially after a couple of glasses of wine.

To start you will need:
Screwdriver

I got my cube organizer from Walmart, but they literally sell them everywhere. I then wandered aimlessly for close to an hour looking for the mirrors, (partly because I really wanted to find them, and partly because I was on the phone with my BFF). They didn't carry them at the Walmart I was at and neither did any other Walmart close to me. Therefore, when I got home I looked on the Internet. I finally found some similar ones at Home Depot. My advice would be to just go to Home Depot; because A. most Walmart's do not carry these mirrors and B. you cannot order them online. The next day I went and got my mirrors and that night I built the organizer.
It's simple and all you need is a screwdriver. My advice here would be to first make sure you put all the pieces the right way. In addition, what I mean by this is every shelf has a colored side and you obviously want that facing out. I didn't mess up this time, but have previous experience with similar items and have made that mistake before. After that I started to glue the mirrors down. Word of advice I would lay all the mirrors down first to make sure they are positioned right. I didn't do this and it caused a little overlapping, but its ok. If you do jump right in and there is overlapping I will tell you how to fix that later. You also want to lay them all down first because I glued one and tried to pull it off and as a result broke one of the mirrors. My initial thought was "Oh no seven years bad luck!!" Later that night I realized "Oh no I cut my hands really bad!" #oops. Anyway, once you lay all the mirrors out you can glue them. I then let it dry overnight just to be on the safe side. The next morning I decided that because there were gaps from the overlapping and I didn't want to risk the mirrors falling off I filled the gaps with glue. (If this doesn't make sense see photo 6 below.) After you let all the glue dry you're good to go.
These are great for your bedroom, living room, office, or anywhere else you can think of.

(I would recommend cleaning all the mirrors before gluing them down)

(This is where I was talking about filling in all gaps with glue)

Sorry that was so long. If y'all decide to make this and have any questions, please feel free to leave them in the comments and I will get back to you as soon as I can.

TBT: Girly Grunge

Today is another throwback from when I was living in NYC.
I love this flannel top for a few reasons. The first being who doesn't love a cozy flannel? Seriously, most of them are just so soft, and comfy.  I just love wearing them on the weekends, when I want to look put together but be extremely comfortable.
The second, being I love, love, LOVE the sequins on the back. Seriously, how cute are they? For this specific look I went extremely grunge. I like the all black with the flannel being the main focus. I also think since there are sequins, and the main color is pink it makes it a little girlier than your typical grunge.
This top could easily be full on girly with some distressed skinny jeans, heels, and a different purse.

Throwback Thursday: Leopard Vest

I was cleaning out pictures the other day, and came across a couple of outfits I shot while living in NYC, but never got around to posting them. Since I have not been able to take pictures lately, I thought I would share them with you now. In addition, most of these items are no longer available. Therefore, I did my very best to re-create the look with similar items.
This is one of my absolute favorite outfits, because, of the vest. I love fur, (faux of course), and I love leopard so, the minute I saw this, I had to snatch it up. On this particular day, my roommate and I went to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and then we walked through central park for a while. It wasn't freezing cold; which is why I paired it with this lightweight turtleneck, black skinnies, and some OTK boots. Then because y'all know I love my pop of color, especially with lipstick, I picked a deep red shade to keep with the dark theme.

Home Decor Inspiration

Hey y’all. First off, I want to apologize for the complete lack of styled posts lately. I really feel like since I graduated life has been non-stop, and time has been lacking more than usual.
Today I am sad to say, this is not a styled post either, but rather inspiration. If you read my post, you know that I will be moving very soon. Yesterday I went to look for apartments in my new city, and let me tell you it was not fun, and extremely unsuccessful. I must say student housing gave me extremely unrealistic expectations about apartments. In college, I lived in gorgeous apartments with humongous rooms, brand new everything, hardwood floors, and every amenity and luxury you could possibly think of, all for a reasonable price. Let me tell you outside of college towns that is not the case; or at least not for me.
In honor of my search however, I thought I would share with you some of my decorating inspiration for my new apartment…if I ever find one.

I will deffinitely be making this ASAP!

I really want a white couch even though I probably shouldn't.

Very Kate Spade inspired.

I love all white bedding. (I would add some accent colors in there)

P.S. My apartment search is currently on the backburner as I am headed to the Bahamas for a few days for a bachelorette party, so I guess life is not too terrible. :)

P.S.S. All of Target's bathing suits are on sale right now and there are some really cute ones. I'll be sharing the ones I snatched up on the blog next week.
